The Florida Loquat Festival returns to NPR!

Good news for loquat fans in the Tampa Bay Region.  The Florida Loquat Festival will return in March, 2021. This year, the celebration will occur over a two week period at a variety of locations in New Port Richey. New Port Richey FarmNet is presenting this as a “mini-festival,” and celebration series. The festival is small and spread over several days. This year, organizers want to maintain the tradition while keeping the beloved local fruit in the consciousness of the community.

The following are some of the items that you can expect to find at upcoming Loquat Festival pop-ups:

  • Fresh Loquats
  • Loquat Preserves
  • Loquat Pastries
  • Loquat Trees
  • Loquat Festival T-Shirts

Each celebration will be on a small scale and of limited duration.  Participants will observe CDC guidelines – organizers ask all involved to wear masks and maintain reasonable distance for safety and to ease health concerns of others.  Organizers do not want a large crowd for the events, but instead prefer next year for a return to large, crowded events.
